A Weekend Hello ( and a cake that broke my heart)

Hello Everyone. Excuse me for such a ” drama queen” title, but if you may, Please allow me to explain the story behind.

Before you think of anything exaggerated, I was lamenting over this cake because I was not able to get a photo shoot of it until the last two slices. I was not able to capture that whole  divine beauty in photo. And if you know me well, Its very rare that I get to decorate a cake nicely. I think I did pretty good at decorating this one. But unfortunately, I was not able to make a whole cake shot.  It could have been a blog-worthy post , with recipe and all. But the whole cake shot, that elusive whole cake shot, did not happen.

It was pretty busy last weekend, by the time I finished the cake, it was dark. And absence of  natural light is such a no no for food photos, I learned that from the experts. So I had to wait till the next day, until it was time to serve the cake and until the time it was sliced. And piece by piece the slices went.

I was contemplating if I should post the recipe anyway, but I think it is more helpful  if I have the photo of the whole cake. That way, explaining the assembly direction would be more visual. So for now, All you have is a slice, my friends. Anyways, my family said the cake was good. So I am pretty sure I will be making it again. So until then, Mango Mousse Cake. And Winnipeg, oh my love, I hope there will be more sunshine next time , okay?

Still, still. I can still hear my heart crying.  But the fact that it was gone that fast means it must be really good, right? I am trying to console my self. That weekend, I ask my husband to make me a DIY artificial light. And that is the one I used for taking the photo of the slice. Really, I am still blaming the early sunset. I now have an artificial light, though. The photo above was shot at 6:30 pm, just with the artificial light that hubby made.

Another thing, I was not able to bake anything this week. I was so sick with cold and cough like my baby. I was in bad shape than I have ever been for a long time. I could not taste anything as all my taste buds are muted. I was caramelizing onions for a French Onion soup and my husband told me that it really smelled good. I envied him because I could smell nothing. Onions and butter cooking slowly in a pan? That could have made me drool. Husband said the soup was good, I had no idea either.

I was  slowed down by my sickness and I was not able to do anything for the blog but I leave you with photos of what (or who) have been making me feel better.
