This is my easy and foolproof Homemade Pizza Dough recipe that I use for my Bacon Mushroom pizza, Italian Sausage White Pizza and many more! Just 5 ingredients, beginner-friendly and so soft and fluffy, this one is a must for homemade pizza nights!
Combine warm water and the yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Stir well. Let this sit for about 5-7 minutes, or until it looks frothy. Stir in the salt and olive oil.
Add 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour gradually to the bowl, stirring with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough is formed. Attach the dough hook to the stand mixer, and knead the dough in the mixer for 3 minutes while gradually adding the remaining 1/4 cup of flour to the bowl. The dough should be cleaning the sides of the bowl.
Transfer the dough into a lightly greased bowl. Turn to coat and cover for about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk. This is now ready to use in your recipe. Please see notes for tips on using the dough.
Notes
Pan Sizes. You can either use 2 round pans. This makes enough for 2 round 12-ish inch pizzas. Or use a rectangular pan to make one large rectangular pizza.
Grease your pan lightly with vegetable oil. This helps prevents sticking.
Use a light colored non-stick pan for best results. This minimizes over browning of the bottom crust.
To Shape the Pizza Dough, you can either use a rolling pin or do what I usually do: I just toss and pat and lightly stretch the dough, allowing the weight of the dough to help me shape it as I toss.
Roll or flatten the dough into about half an inch thickness. If the dough is retracting as you shape, allow it to rest for 5 minutes or so, and then try again.
