Some September Baking

I am getting addicted to baking. I can do baking after another, if only I have time.  My last two cakes were derived from All-recipes.com

The first is a chocolate cake with a quick one bowl method. The result is a moist, good tasting cake.
The recipe is originally for 24 servings but I converted the ingredients to make 12 servings only. I cut the cake in two to give it filling. Then I topped it with scraped Hershey’s Dark chocolate.

I made the chocolate frosting out of butter, cocoa powder and icing sugar. I think the frosting made the cake too sweet. I dont know of any other way to make frosting less sweet because the main ingredient is Sugar.

Then there is the butter cake. I also divided the ingredients to make a serving for 6.

Then my mistake here was putting a “no name”, ready made frosting as a filling and decoration. I think it would have been better if I just made my own. The frosting is just too sweet with no other trace of buttery taste.

And as you can see I still need to practice more on the decorating part. Perhaps, a cake smoother will be a good investment. Nonetheless, It is a joy to see my finished products, they are not perfect but with practice, I know I will do better.

You decorate well for someone who’s just started to bake cakes. 😀 Many of us, me included of course, can’t even bake a decent cake. Let alone make any frosting.

Right Sis! Practice makes perfect. But in fairness, you have done a great job. Decorating I guess is really the hard part in baking. This is also my one big dream! To bake! Hope I could do it more often.:)
