The Joy List (Spring Edition)
It has been along while since the last Joy List! While I am not able to write here often, I have more lifestyle and joy lists at my other blog, Oh Little Joys. Here at the Joy list I write about the things that give me joy lately. They aren’t grand or big, but really, my joy things are small and simple things.
What has been giving you joy lately? We have been savoring the Calgary spring. Even though the weather is confusingly inconsistent, we take the shot and go out and do something on weekends. even if that means we get sudden rain or cold weather when we are geared and dressed up for a sunny day, or we get nice sunny skies on days we bring out toques, warm gloves and jackets!
The Joy List
Spring Escapades. We have been under the bridges, close to bodies of water and under the bright sunny skies. But we also get windy and rainy days when we are expecting a sunny weather. I love how my eldest is still young to still want to come with us, and our middle child is definitely on board our escapades. I know that in a few years, this may change, so we just soak every moment. My husband says “We will take her ( my eldest) for as long as she is still willing to come”.
Still, I cannot believe we are already having these conversations, because I am just not quite ready for my eldest to grow up yet.

My Daughter’s Birthday Card for her Big Sister. This made my eye well up. These two aren’t always the best of friends, and they annoy each other very often. Notes like this seem to ease my heart.

Sourdough Bread. I am in love with making sourdough. It takes me back to the old days when I was just starting to learn how to bake. Everything is a joyful anticipation. This reminds me of why I love baking so much. It is a process of creation that gives me a sense of joy and fulfillment.

My Favorite Snack Lately. I love the sweet, salty and bread-y combo of this. These are sourdough pretzel bites and it comes in a variety of flavors. This is my favorite. I have only discovered this recently, and now, it is always on my Instacart.

Passenger Seat by Stephen Speaks. The song. I love this song and I have forgotten about it for a long time. Now it is on repeat for days.
My Father, Brother and My Sis-in-Law Visit. For the first time, my father visited us in our new home in Calgary! My brother and my sis in law have visited before, but having my father this time feels extra special. I wrote about my lingering fear about the aging parents over at my little blog, and moments of being with my father seem to ease that fear. It just is harder when we are far away.

My Favorites Lately
- Bare Minerals Tinted Gel Moisturizer. I have been using this for almost 5 years now. It is a tinted moisturizer with SPF. It is not cakey, very natural looking a bit dewy. I rarely wear foundation because this is my daily make up.
- This Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven is one that will not break the bank. I was looking for something to bake my sourdough bread in and this one seemed promising. It has outstanding quality, retains it gorgeous color and feels expensive!
- I plan to live in these High Denim Shorts all spring and summer. I love dressing up even when I work from home. I lean towards basic, comfy and classic style.
- Also loving these 5 pack Ankle Socks. I am loving low cut socks with my sneakers especially now that the weather is warm. These are inexpensive and comfy! They do not slide down which is a plus!
- This Cheek and Lip Mud is my current favorite blush and lip combo for a pop of color everyday. If you pick the bright colors, they can be pretty intense and rich which can be good or bad depending on your goals. It can stay for a good while too. The other color needs reapplication on the lips if you want an all day pop of color. However, for a quick errand or an all-day at home affair, these are perfect!
